James Massiah
Based in South London, James Massiah develops work at the crossroads of spoken word poetry, rap, DJing and electronic cultures. His writing addresses themes such as sexuality, mortality, ethics, desire or excess, in formats that blend performance, music and imagery. Present in London's underground scenes and close to the NTS ecosystem, James Massiah has built in parallel a career as a DJ and as an author-performer, notably through his Adult Entertainment nights. His music fuses spoken word, rap, grime, dancehall, dub and club textures, with a direct approach to storytelling and rhythm. In terms of discography, James Massiah released the track "Natural Born Killers (Ride for Me)" in 2019, followed by the EP True Romance, where his phrasing unfolds over productions marked by electronic and nocturnal sounds. Over the course of his career, James Massiah has collaborated with Dean Blunt, Joy Orbison, Massive Attack, Daniel Avery and Everything Is Recorded, while appearing on stages and in contexts that connect contemporary poetry, independent radio and club music.
