Shit And Shine

Founded in 2004 by Craig Clouse, Shit and Shine initially developed between London and the Anglo-Saxon experimental scene before anchoring itself in Austin, Texas, while maintaining a flexible operation around a single core and rotating musicians. The project operates at the edge of noise rock, industrial music, drone, and the most abrasive electronic forms, with a pronounced use of repetitive percussion, loops, saturated textures, and a strong appetite for long or fragmented constructions. Very prolific, Shit and Shine released You’re Lucky to Have Friends Like Us in 2004, followed by Ladybird in 2005, Jealous of Shit and Shine in 2006 and Cherry in 2008, before continuing with 229-2299 Girls Against Shit in 2009, Le Grand Larance Prix in 2011, Jream Baby Jream in 2012, Powder Horn in 2014, 54 Synth-Brass, 38 Metal Guitar, 65 Cathedral and Everybody’s a Fuckin Expert in 2015, Some People Really Know How To Live in 2017, Bad Vibes in 2018, NO NO NO NO in 2019, Malibu Liquor Store in 2020 and New Confusion in 2022. From one record to the next, Shit and Shine alternates pieces of noisy trance, rhythmic collages, more electronic detours, and more direct formats, while remaining tied to the circuits of experimental rock, noise, and the international underground.
