Bedsore
Trained in Rome, Bedsore has since the late 2010s developed a progressive death metal that blends shifting structures, psychedelic climates and marked references to Italian progressive rock. First noticed with the EP Deathcult (2020), and then with the album Hypnagogic Hallucinations (2020), the band quickly broadens its vocabulary by incorporating vintage textures, atmospheric passages and a more narrative writing. Bedsore operates as an extreme metal outfit open to other sonic traditions, where the density of riffs and guttural vocals coexist with keyboards, melodic developments, and a taste for dark and dreamlike atmospheres. This direction is further refined on Dreaming the Strife for Love (2024), an album inspired by the Hypnerotomachia Poliphili, a Renaissance Italian text, which pushes further the crossing between death metal, 1970s progressive rock and psychedelia. Present on European metal and underground scenes, Bedsore belongs to a generation of bands that treat extreme metal as an evolutionary form, linking brutality, sophistication of arrangements and historical imagination.
