Thrown Into Exile

Formed in Los Angeles in 2011, Thrown Into Exile belong to a contemporary American heavy metal tradition that blends rhythmic power, groove- and thrash-tinged riffs, and a melodic approach influenced by parts of the 2000s modern metal scene. The band was noticed early after winning the Road to Mayhem contest in 2012, which secured them a slot at the Rockstar Mayhem Festival; they returned in 2013 as part of the full tour lineup. Around that time they also appeared on bills for the Summer Slaughter Tour and California Metalfest, and opened for acts such as Sepultura, Fear Factory and Testament. After their debut EP Thrown Into Exile (2013), the band went through numerous lineup changes, with Mario Rubio remaining the main driving force. Their discography continued with the albums Safe Inside (2016) and II: Illusion of Control (2020), followed by the EP Passageways (2024). Through these shifts, Thrown Into Exile has kept an identity centred on heavy, direct and dark metal, balancing stage impact with increasingly melodic songwriting.
