Alien

Formed in Gothenburg in 1986 around guitarist Tony Borg and vocalist Jim Jidhed, Alien initially took shape as a quintet with Ken Sandin, Jimmy Wandroph and Toby Tarrach. The band developed a melodic hard rock sound tinged with AOR, built on clear choruses, prominent keyboards and a production typical of the late 1980s. Their first album, Alien, was released in 1988 and includes “Only One Woman,” a cover of The Marbles’ song written by the Bee Gees, as well as “Tears Don’t Put Out the Fire” and “Brave New Love,” which was used in the end credits of the film The Blob in 1988. After Jim Jidhed’s temporary departure, Alien released Shiftin' Gear in 1990 and Alien III in 1993, before moving toward a heavier sound on Crash in 1995. Marked by several lineup changes during the 1990s and 2000s, Alien reunited with Jim Jidhed on Dark Eyes in 2005, reformed with their original lineup in the early 2010s and released Eternity in 2014 and Into the Future in 2020.
