Toni Rios
Born in Wetzlar in 1971 as Jose Antonio Rios Ferro, Toni Rios became involved early in the German electronic scene, with strong roots in Frankfurt, a central city for 1990s techno. The son of Spanish parents, he developed a sound between techno and club house—direct, rhythmic and often percussive. He began at the club Omen, where he played alongside Sven Väth and DJ Dag, and quickly expanded internationally from 1992, notably to the United States. Toni Rios later worked with Eye Q Records and released his own productions, then founded the label Danza Electrònica in 2001, through which he asserted an aesthetic focused on dancefloor effectiveness. His discography includes the albums Danza Electrònica (2000), Kiss (2003) and Past & Present (2009). Over the years he also appeared in joint projects with Frank Lorber, notably as Lobby Lobster & Tony Montana, and collaborated with Martin Eyerer on several maxis. He was regularly featured on the Clubnight program between 1998 and 2014, served as a resident at Cocoon Club and U60311, and played on stages such as Time Warp, Nature One and I Love Techno.
