Ali Amran
Rooted in the contemporary Kabyle scene, Ali Amran has developed from Kabylia, Algeria, a repertoire in which Amazigh song engages with pop, folk and rock forms. His writing draws on melodies and vocal inflections from the North African traditional heritage while placing them in more contemporary arrangements that remain accessible without losing their cultural anchoring. With Amsebrid in 2001, Ali Amran established the foundations of an approach focused on renewing Kabyle song within a modern song format where guitar, rhythm and melodic line occupy a central place. Throughout his discography he pursues this balance between Amazigh inheritance and current forms, with personal lyrics and an approach that stays close to the singer-songwriter tradition. Tidyanin, released in 2018, continues this trajectory. The Tamyafit project, devoted to Cheikh El Hasnaoui, highlights another facet of his work by reworking this patrimonial repertoire with a more contemporary harmonic shaping, faithful to the direction Ali Amran has followed since the early 2000s.
