Malin Pettersen

Born in 1988 in Norway, Malin Pettersen operates at the crossroads of country, folk and Americana, with writing centered on sober, melodic songs anchored in a contemporary acoustic tradition. Appearing very young in the Norwegian public space with her participation in Idol in 2005, Malin Pettersen later develops a more durable career in the country and roots scenes, notably within Lucky Lips, a group that reached the Melodi Grand Prix final in 2013. Alongside this collective work, she begins a solo trajectory with References Pt. 1 in 2018, followed by Alonesome in 2019, Wildhorse in 2020 and Trouble Finding Words in 2023. In Malin Pettersen, formats stay direct, carried by a clear voice and an approach that blends classic country, narrative folk and pop accents without straying from a stripped aesthetic. Her journey also includes collaborations in the Norwegian roots scene, as well as a stint on radio as host of the Kåbbåi program on NRK P13 between 2018 and 2021. Malin Pettersen thus sits within a Scandinavian scene that reconnects American traditions with Nordic touchpoints and maintains constant attention to the craft of songwriting.
