Punchlove

Driven by a dense, melodic take on shoegaze, Punchlove is a New York–based band that moves between indie rock, noise pop and post‑punk touches. Formed in the early 2020s, they first circulated their music through a series of digital singles where saturated guitars, layers of feedback and prominent bass lines frame vocals that are often recessed in the mix — an inheritance of 1990s shoegaze applied to more direct song structures. That aesthetic became clearer with the 2023 album "Channels", which gathers tracks that play on contrasts between nervous rhythms, hazy textures and relatively clear vocal melodies, at times edging into dream pop. On stage, Punchlove translates this sonic work into a more frontal format, keeping the stacked guitar layers while emphasizing the rhythmic foundation, linking the band to a contemporary American indie scene that blurs the lines between alternative rock, shoegaze and noisy pop. In just a few years, Punchlove has established itself as a representative project of a generation of New York acts revisiting these codes with a current sensibility.
