Kenshi Yonezu

Born in Tokushima Prefecture, Japan, Kenshi Yonezu first developed his universe under the name Hachi from 2009 on the Nico Nico online scene, where his vocal-synthesis tracks such as Matryoshka, Panda Hero or Donut Hole established a writing that is dense, tense and visually striking. Adopting his real name in 2012 with the diorama album, Yonezu evolves this base into a Japanese pop that blends rock, electronic arrangements, oblique melodies and more direct refrains, while maintaining a strong fondness for imagery, fragmented narratives and rhythmic contrasts. He then released the albums YANKEE in 2014, Bremen in 2015, BOOTLEG in 2017, STRAY SHEEP in 2020 and LOST CORNER in 2024. His career also grows through numerous connections with animation, cinema and Japanese TV series, from Orion, Peace Sign and KICK BACK to Lemon, Umi no Yurei, M87, Chikyugi or Sayonara Mata Itsuka!. A composer, lyricist, producer, illustrator and director of some visuals, Kenshi Yonezu retains control over a large portion of his graphic identity. On stage, he gradually moves from theaters to arenas and then domes, with an international activity expanding across his tours.
