Badbox

Based in London, Mario Cee develops the BADBOX project at the crossroads of several trajectories of electronic music. Active since the 1990s, he first evolved in scenes related to jungle, garage and drum and bass before steering BADBOX toward a house and Afro-house aesthetic that is more marked, nourished by his Cypriot origins and by musical circulations between Europe, Africa and the Mediterranean. His journey passes through underground radio, then clubs and international festivals, with appearances in venues such as Hï Ibiza, Blue Marlin or Phi Beach in Sardinia, as well as in series of events in Ibiza, Tulum and Dubai. BADBOX has also been associated with the rise of Black Coffee, in a context of disseminating South African house on broader circuits. On the production side, BADBOX signs tracks on several house and Afro-house labels, notably Armada, Nervous, MoBlack, Kazukuta, as well as Mahaba and Sondela. In his sets as in his studio releases, BADBOX favors flexible rhythms, detailed percussion and a house approach designed for the club, without breaking with a culture derived from British electronic scenes.
