Rosa Pistola

Under the name Rosa Pistola, Laura Puentes has built a career from Mexico at the intersection of Latin American club scenes and experimental margins. Initially involved in noise and experimental music projects such as Mangina, Raters and Boy Band — released on her own label — Rosa Pistola shifted her focus to reggaeton DJing from 2015 onward. Her sets and productions move between reggaeton, cumbiatón, dembow, guaracha, merengue house and 3ball, featuring a direct, percussive and hybrid approach that links urban music with an underground aesthetic. Rosa Pistola took part in the first Boiler Room devoted to reggaeton alongside DJ Playero, and has performed in a wide range of contexts, from EDC Mexico to MoMA PS1, as well as at Sonic Acts, Unsound and Primavera Sound with Boiler Room in 2022. Her editorial work also includes radio and scene documentation, notably with NTS Radio for UNDER MX, Radio Super Underground and the Cumbiaton Total project, as well as with Resident Advisor on the documentary Estado de Reggaeton. In 2021, Rosa Pistola launched La Chekera REC, both a label and a studio.
