Brisa Roché
Born in Arcata, California, in 1976, Brisa Roché grew up in Northern California before spending time in Seattle as a teenager, playing in a scene shaped by the rise of grunge. She later settled in France and began singing in the Paris metro and then in the jazz clubs of Saint‑Germain‑des‑Prés, a path that led to her first recordings. Her repertoire, sung mainly in English and sometimes in French, moves between folk, psychedelic pop, garage rock, soul and electronic music, with songwriting remaining central even as her aesthetic changes markedly over time. After Soothe Me (2003), she released The Chase (2005), Takes (2007) and All Right Now (2010), before steering her music toward more synthetic forms on invisible1 (2016). Subsequent releases — Father (2018), Low Fidelity (2019), Freeze Where U R with Fred Fortuny (2021), BRMD with IX (2022) and Hero Palo (2023) — show a continuing trajectory balanced between songwriting, textural work and occasional collaborations.
