Madwave

Based in Lausanne, Stéphane Imbach, under the name Madwave, has built a career anchored in the Swiss trance scene since the mid-1990s. Active as a DJ since 1996, Madwave sits within a trance and uplifting trance aesthetic marked by expansive melodies, firm build-ups, and an energy directly tied to the rave culture that shaped him at the start of the decade. His beginnings included several club residencies in Switzerland, notably in Lausanne, Geneva, Bulle and Zurich, before regularly appearing at large-scale events such as Street Parade, Love Parade, Nature One, Energy, Lake Parade or the Amsterdam Dance Event. Alongside his live activity, Madwave has built an extensive discography with releases on various specialist labels and founded Phoenix Recordings in 2006 with Dave Joy, a structure linked to European trance. Among his productions are A Time For Romance (2009), Neverending Story (2012), Ritual (Estelle) with Plastic Angel (2015), Era with Damian Wasse (2016), Torpedo (2017), Miracle with Exouler (2018), Melodia (2018), Departure with Chris SX (2019) and Up In The Air with Xijaro & Pitch (2019). Madwave has also signed several remixes and mixed compilations, including official volumes tied to Street Parade, extending a body of work located between club culture, radio formats and melodic festival trance.
