TxC
Formed in Gqeberha, in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa, TxC brings together the DJs and producers Tarryn Reid and Clairise Hefke, two childhood friends who have been active together since 2019. The duo sits within the amapiano aesthetic, with sets and productions built around slow house rhythms, deep basslines, smooth percussion, and vocal accents drawn from the contemporary South African scene. After an initial online visibility, TxC lands its first engagements in Johannesburg before quickly expanding its circuit to clubs, festivals, and international dates. In 2022, the duo releases the EP A Fierce Piano, and later that year performs at the FIFA Fan Festival and as part of the World Cup in Qatar, a milestone that accompanies its establishment outside Southern Africa. TxC continues this development with the single Turn Off the Lights in 2023, then the EP Turn Off the Lights in 2024, released under license with LVRN. Among the collaborations released in recent years are also Yebo with Davido, Tony Duardo, LeeMcKrazy, and Djy Biza, or As’jike with W4DE, Buddy Kay, Chley, Pcee, and Danny Shades. On stage as in the studio, TxC defends a direct and danceable reading of amapiano, designed for the club but open to more transversal formats.
