Brawther

Born in Paris and based in Leeds, Brawther has developed since the early 2010s an approach to house that draws on the genre’s classic forms while maintaining a very stripped-down writing style, built on groove, shifts in texture and a slow progression. His productions, released selectively on labels such as secretsundaze and My Love Is Underground, range from tracks with supple, dreamy pads to drier constructions focused on a clear 4/4 beat and a discreet tension. Brawther’s path has also crossed that of Chez Damier, with whom he maintains a lasting artistic connection in the wake of American house. As a DJ he performs both in major European clubs and festivals and in settings more rooted in local culture, with appearances at fabric, Panorama Bar, DC-10 and Glastonbury, while remaining tied to the Leeds scene and Back to Basics. He also runs Dungeon Meat, a label and production duo formed with Tristan da Cunha—an extension of a precise, direct house aesthetic designed for the long arc of the dancefloor.
