Ana Frango Elétrico

Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1997, Ana Frango Elétrico has been developing since the late 2010s a songwriting voice located between MPB, indie pop, art pop, independent rock, psychedelic pop and jazz-pop, with a precise sense of melody and arrangements that can also draw on funk, chamber pop and more experimental forms. First noticed on the Carioca independent scene, Ana Frango Elétrico released Mormaço Queima in 2018 and Little Electric Chicken Heart in 2019, an album that broadened her exposure outside Brazil and earned her a Latin Grammy nomination in the category of rock or alternative music in Portuguese. In 2023, Me Chama de Gato Que Eu Sou Sua continued this trajectory with songs in Portuguese and English, a fuller production and a balance between pop sweetness, rhythmic displacements and psychedelic textures. A singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer, Ana Frango Elétrico also works for other artists, notably on the debut album by Sophia Chablau e Uma Enorme Perda de Tempo (2021) and on SIM SIM SIM by Bala Desejo (2022). She has performed in Brazil and internationally at festivals such as Lollapalooza Brasil, Primavera Sound Porto and Paredes de Coura.
