The Haunted Youth is the project led by Belgian musician Joachim Liebens, hovering between dream pop, indie rock, and discreet shoegaze. Guitars drenched in reverb, synths that drift, a melancholy that is clear yet never fixed: since Teen Rebel, the band has established itself with this way of transforming the doubts and vertigo of adolescence into hazy yet direct refrains. The first album Dawn of the Freak (2022) solidified this signature, carried by simple, emotional writing and a sound that always preserves a sliver of light behind the shadows.
With Boys Cry Too (2026), Liebens pushes the dial further: an album built as a journey between anger, loss, a breaking heart, and the need for hope. It starts off strong, it sometimes creaks, and above all it reveals itself, embracing vulnerability as its central theme. On stage, The Haunted Youth fully expresses its identity as a band, more upfront, without losing its dreamlike textures. See you on 5 December 2026 at Village Underground, London.
