Sofie Royer returns on September 4 with her new album, Before/After, on the Stones Throw label (Sudan Archives, Benny Sings, Mild High Club...).
On this fourth album, the Austrian-Iranian pop artist and producer wonders whether the conflicts between the past and the future are, in reality, just struggles against ourselves. “The older you get, the more you become aware of certain patterns in your behavior,” she explains.
Over the past six years, Sofie has honed her songwriting across three albums. Today, she sprinkles her lyrics with references to Fassbinder, David Lynch and Falco, and collaborated with pop producers on her new record: Matt Cohn (SZA, Charli XCX), Jorgen Odegard (Sabrina Carpenter, BLACKPINK) and Eli Hirsch (Suki Waterhouse). She will perform at La Gaîté Lyrique on December 8, 2026.
