Big Country and The Alarm team up for a double bill in Bournemouth on 25 November 2026 at O2 Academy Bournemouth. Formed in Scotland in 1981, Big Country shaped a taut, melodic rock sound where ringing guitars hint at bagpipes and folk roots. From the early post‑punk and new wave frame, they carved their own path with The Crossing, Steeltown, The Seer and Peace in Our Time, then pushed toward more direct songwriting across the 1990s and returned to recording with The Journey in 2013. On stage, the band balances drive and melody, drawing on an enduring catalogue steeped in Scottish tones.
Born the same year in North Wales, The Alarm came up between post‑punk, new wave and alternative rock, known for the switch between acoustic tension and electric lift, and for choruses built to be sung back. Early singles like The Stand, Blaze of Glory, Sixty Eight Guns and Spirit of ’76 set the tone before a run of albums from Declaration and Strength to Eye of the Hurricane and Change. The project later carried on with new chapters and records into the 2000s and 2020s, keeping that direct, anthemic streak at the core. Two bands, two strong legacies, one night in Bournemouth.
