Self Deception, Ankor

On December 2, 2026, Petit Bain (Paris) hosts Self Deception and Ankor. Formed in Stockholm in 2005 around singer Andreas Clark and drummer Erik Ingels Graham, Self Deception solidified as a quartet with Ronny Westphal on guitar and Patrik Hallgren on bass. The band operates between modern rock, metal and melodic hard rock, with dense guitars, direct vocals and choruses driven by pop-style songwriting while retaining a heavy backbone. Their trajectory includes Restitution (2009) and Over the Threshold (2011), followed by the EP These Walls (2014) in collaboration with Joy Deb, Linnea Deb and producer Dino Medanhodzic. Subsequent releases hone a more massive, upfront sound with Self Deception (2018), Endorse the Art (2019), Shapes (2020), Reshaped (2020), You Are Only As Sick As Your Secrets (2023) and Destroy the Art (2024). Live, the band plays on the contrast between forceful riffs and clear melodies, with choruses that stick in the mind.
