January Blues Festival: Eric Bibb

As part of the January Blues Festival’s 10th anniversary, Eric Bibb returns to Union Chapel, London, on 23 January 2027. Across five decades and more than forty albums, the singer-guitarist has drawn a direct line between the acoustic blues tradition and contemporary songwriting, earning three Grammy nominations and multiple Blues Foundation honors along the way.

Born into a family shaped by activism, Bibb is the son of singer and civil rights advocate Leon Bibb. He came of age in the Greenwich Village folk scene, crossed paths with Bob Dylan, Joan Baez and Pete Seeger, and took early cues from Odetta, Richie Havens and Taj Mahal. Those roots still guide his writing today.

On stage, Bibb blends fingerstyle guitar, gospel shades and folk storytelling, with lyrics that look at the present through lived experience. His recent work includes In The Real World (2024), recorded at Real World Studios, which extends his blend of blues, soul and Americana. An intimate, song-led set built on groove and space is on the cards, with special guests to be announced.
