On 31 October 2026 at O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire, London, The Bluetones mark the 30th anniversary of Expecting to Fly. Three decades on from their 1996 debut, the band revisits the songs that set their course: lucid guitars, clean hooks and a pop writing tinted with a mellow edge, somewhere between britpop attitude, indie rock and jangle pop. Expect a set that shines a light on that first chapter while drawing on the experience of a group that has kept playing and evolving.
Formed in Hounslow in 1993, The Bluetones gather Mark Morriss on vocals, Adam Devlin on guitar, Scott Morriss on bass and Eds Chesters on drums. After Expecting to Fly came Return to the Last Chance Saloon and Science & Nature, then Luxembourg, a self-titled album and A New Athens, before a split in 2011 and a return to the road in 2015. Their studio story carried on with Atlas in 2026, extending a catalogue built on clear-lined melodies and unshowy, efficient songwriting that still resonates on stage.
