Info

De Staat returns to Amsterdam on 3 October 2026 for a show at Koninklijk Theater Carré. The Nijmegen-based outfit around singer and songwriter Torre Florim began in 2006 as a writing project and grew into a tight-playing band with a direct, physical approach to alternative rock. Their sound layers angular guitars over a prominent bass, with pulses that lean toward dance and post-punk. Repetitive motifs, rhythmically chanted choruses and a mix of indie influences and a rougher pop edge form the backbone of their repertoire.

After Wait for Evolution (2009) came Machinery (2011), I_CON (2013), O (2016) and Bubble Gum (2019), records on which the group gradually added more synthetic colors without relinquishing their close band dynamic. Live, it's all about groove, repetition and rhythmic tension; layers build up, choir-like hooks and tight patterns push the songs forward. Under the heading 'De Staat becomes De Staat' the band puts that very signature in the spotlight. With Torre Florim, Rocco Hueting, Jop van Summeren and Tim van Delft, De Staat shows how their catalogue has developed and where the core remains: precise rhythmic drive, melodies that keep echoing, and a collective that plays as a single organism.
