Pat Metheny

Pat Metheny will be in Paris on June 22, 2026, at the Grand Rex, 1 Boulevard Poissonnière, 75002 Paris. An American guitarist and composer, he made his mark in the mid-1970s with Gary Burton’s quartet, then recorded Bright Size Life (1976) alongside Jaco Pastorius and Bob Moses. His musical terrain is contemporary jazz open to rock, folk and Latin American music, characterized by elaborated melodies, shifting harmonies and a strong focus on textures.

In 1977 he founded the Pat Metheny Group with Lyle Mays, furthering long-form structures and intricate rhythms, from Offramp to The Way Up. At the same time, his projects alternate between acoustic intimacy (One Quiet Night), automated instrumental setups (Orchestrion) and more recent explorations (Dream Box). On stage, Metheny ranges from trio to compact ensembles and solo performances, drawing on a wide repertoire and collaborations that span from Ornette Coleman to Brad Mehldau.
