1914, a Ukrainian band that chronicles World War I, returns to Paris on April 16, 2026, at Backstage & O'Sullivans By The Mill Paris. On stage, the group blends blackened death, sludge accents and doom shadows to recount soldiers’ trajectories, fear, waiting and the din of battle. Their fourth album, Viribus Unitis, released on November 14, 2025 by Napalm Records, extends this work: less focused on death and destruction, it turns more toward camaraderie, endurance and what war imprints on survivors. The tracks explore bonds forged under fire, exhaustion and difficult returns, all set in dark, tense atmospheres.
Alongside 1914, Katla, a Danish doom metal outfit, provides a slower, more massive dimension. Heavy riffs, restrained tension and compositions that use repetition and texture to build pressure. Their presence naturally complements the theme and highlights 1914’s dramaturgy, for an evening where history, extreme music and the art of storytelling intersect.
