Catherine Ringer

Catherine Ringer continues her exploration of poetry on stage with L’érotisme de Vivre, based on the collection by Alice Mendelson. On 19 March 2026 at the Centre culturel Charlie Chaplin in Vaulx-en-Velin, she presents a musical reading in which poems mingle with song, supported by a discreet piano.

In spring 2021, to support a Paris theatre that had become fragile, she created this form. Mendelson, who published her first collection on the eve of her 95th birthday, gathered texts written between 1947 and 2021. Love, desire, the joy of living: the singer speaks and sings these lines that span decades, between carnal intensity and freedom.

After an initial tour running through 2023, Catherine Ringer is reviving the project now in response to the poet’s passing in early 2025. On stage, her voice slides from speech to song, allowing the words and their rhythm to breathe, while the piano establishes a clear, pared-down atmosphere. An intimate offering centered on Alice Mendelson’s language, it invites audiences to rediscover Catherine Ringer in a different register, both direct and sensitive.
