La Seine Musicale continues its exploration, resonating the affinities between jazz and world music, guided by a taste for diversity and discovery. Beyond genres, transcending generational boundaries, its programming features international figures, reveals emerging talents and offers unprecedented encounters.
Fortunately for its fans, the New York-based singer does not rest on her laurels: after taking a popular turn in the 2010s by tackling the pillars of Black American music, moving away from her rock incursions to embrace rhythm ’n’ blues and soul, after revisiting Ella Fitzgerald's repertoire, Robin McKelle is shaping her new ambitions. At the head of an acoustic combo, she will highlight the Auditorium's natural sound by performing a repertoire of jazz standards spanning several eras.
With her alto range tinged with a few playful accents that she wears with pride, Robin McKelle can evoke direct emotion and indulge in the scat, a discipline she masters brilliantly. Beyond labels, she embodies the complete artist: a distinctive voice, a striking presence, and an authenticity that blends immediacy with rigor. Her concert at La Seine Musicale will be the occasion for her to present her new album.
