Info
Ancient and Aborym – a Norwegian–Italian alliance, a fusion of Scandinavian classicism with Italian pioneers of industrial black metal.
January 22, at Klub Zaścianek, Kraków.
Ancient is a Norwegian black metal band formed in 1992 by guitarist and composer Aphazel. It began as a solo project, but the founder was soon joined by drummer Grimm, with whom in 1994 he released the debut album Svartalvheim. After Grimm's departure, Aphazel moved from Norway to the USA, forming a new Ancient lineup with vocalists Lord Kaiaphas and Kimberly Goss and drummer Kjetil. After signing a contract with Metal Blade Records, the band released the 1996 album The Cainian Chronicle. Ancient is the quintessence of atmospheric Norwegian black metal born in the 1990s. The band combines the rawness and aggression of riffs with a dark atmosphere and hypnotic, cold melodies. Their music fluidly balances between the fury of fast blasts and the moody, expansive slower passages, creating a dense atmosphere characteristic of the Scandinavian scene of those years. In January, Ancient will return to Kraków with a special set of The Cainian Chronicle, allowing audiences at Zaścianek to hear this 1996 material in full.
Aborym is a pioneer of industrial black metal, formed in 1992 in Italy. Led by Fabb, the group gained recognition for its fusion of extreme riffs with cold electronics. With each successive release, the band redefined the boundaries of the genre, introducing techno, noise, and dark ambient elements to metal. Their work is a dense, mechanical sonic landscape that strikes the listener with a wall of futuristic noise.
