On January 31, 2027, The Ocean will set up its amplifiers at Le Rocher de Palmer in Cenon, opening a new chapter in its history. True to its penchant for large-scale narratives, the Berlin collective here relies on Solaris, an album that imagines artificial worlds to survive, while questioning this paradox: progress born of human intelligence can also lead to self-destruction. After Holocene, the band undergoes a pronounced transformation, both in sound and in its lineup.
Around founder Robin Staps, we find bassist Mattias Hägerstrand and drummer Jordi Farré, joined by two new vocalists, Lane Shi and Enrico Tiberi, as well as guitarists Emmanuel Jessua and Marco Gennaro. This brings a spectrum of colours to this tense, narrative post-metal/prog, balancing heaviness, atmospheric passages, more electronic textures, and tightly executed ruptures. On stage, The Ocean turns these ideas into living matter: massive blocks, breathing spaces, and a sustained tension that tells as much as it pounds.
