Info
On April 28, 2027, Mei Semones lands at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver with a set built around her Brooklyn-bred mix of indie rock, chamber pop, and jazz-minded songwriting. As a composer, singer, and guitarist, she plays with elastic rhythms and harmonies that nod to jazz without losing the directness of concise pop forms, letting melodic guitar lines carry the emotion as much as the words.
Her songs move naturally between English and Japanese, tracing intimate threads like attachment, nostalgia, and the feeling of living between cultures. Live, the material opens up: a band format that can lean into tight, math-rock-adjacent turns, then snap back to softer dynamics, with textures that suggest strings and careful arrangements rather than loud, one-note power. Expect a show that’s precise but warm, where craft and closeness share the same space.
