This Is The Kit lands in Cardiff for a show at Tramshed Cardiff on 28 September 2027, led by singer, guitarist and banjo player Kate Stables. Built as a flexible project that can shift shape from intimate to full-band, the music sits where contemporary folk meets indie rock: acoustic strings and banjo rub up against rougher guitars, with slightly skewed rhythms that keep things moving without forcing it.
Over the years, Stables has developed a writing style that feels direct and unshowy, letting small melodic turns and phrasing do the work. The set can pull from the early records through to more recent releases like Careful of Your Keepers, with songs that open up gradually, then snap back to something bare and close. Expect a gig that plays with tension and looseness, quiet details and bigger swells, all carried by that unmistakably clear voice at the center.
