Info
Sports bring their Oklahoma-born indie pop to Sheffield on October 20, 2026, at Sidney & Matilda. Built around Cale Chronister’s voice and songwriting, with Christian Theriot shaping the palette as a multi-instrumentalist, the project sits right where indie pop brushes up against R&B, soft rock and synth-pop.
If you came in through the early EPs “Naked All the Time” and “People Can’t Stop Chillin”, expect that warm, lo-fi feeling to resurface in the melodies and keys, even as the newer material leans into a cleaner, more produced touch. Since the move to Los Angeles, Sports have pushed further into subtle funk, synthetic ballads and minimalist grooves, especially across “Get A Good Look Pt. 1” (2021) and “Pt. 2” (2022).
On stage, they tighten the songs into a full-band setup, reworking arrangements without losing the softness: rounded bass lines, restrained dynamics, and a voice-forward set that connects bedroom-pop intimacy with neo-soul control.
