On October 8, 2026, at Cologne's Essigfabrik, a lineup will collide that treats hardcore and extreme punk not as a matter of style but as a means of exerting pressure. Nails from Oxnard are known for short, massive songs in which hardcore-punk, grindcore, powerviolence, and crust crash into one another. Since the late 2000s, the band around Todd Jones has sharpened this compact format, with brutal tempo changes and a sound that carries as much D-beat as a death-metal edge. Wolfbrigade hail from Sweden and have carried the Scandinavian crust tradition forward since 1995: D-beat-driven, melodically abrasive, with heavy guitars and that dark drive that is fed by death metal as well. Rotten Sound from Finland have been bottling grindcore to a point since 1993: blisteringly fast, tight riffs, hardcore punch. Here the emphasis is on clear dividing lines, short tracks, and unwavering intensity. Invunche rounds out the evening with shamanic black punk from the Netherlands, raw and off-kilter, serving as both contrast and catalyst.
