Info

On October 8, 2026, at University of Wolverhampton at The Halls, Heaven 17 put the spotlight back on Penthouse and Pavement, the 1981 record that sharpened their early synth-pop into something slicker, more melodic, and built for the dancefloor as much as the charts.

Formed in Sheffield after the first split of The Human League, the band’s signature mix is still there: electronic programming, punchy bass lines, pop-ready choruses, and arrangements that nod to funk and soul without losing the new wave edge. Expect the set to lean into the album’s cool, politically aware attitude, the kind of writing that first turned heads with songs like “Fascist Groove Thang”, and the refined, club-friendly sound that followed.

Now centered around Glenn Gregory and Martyn Ware, Heaven 17 remain, above all, a live band—tight, direct, and made for anyone who wants early-80s British pop with real bite.
