Info
On October 1, 2026 at Slush Puppie Place in Kingston, Lyle Lovett brings his Small Large Band for a night built around that in-between format he’s made his own: tight like a combo, but with room for bigger colors, swing and brass-driven turns when the songs ask for it. Singer, composer and actor, Lovett has spent decades stretching what “American music” can mean, moving naturally between country roots, western swing, jazz phrasing, folk storytelling, gospel warmth and blues grit.
What really ties it together is his way with a story: sharp observations, dry humor, and that clear, flexible voice that can shift from an intimate ballad to full-band momentum without forcing it. Expect a set that plays with textures and grooves as much as lyrics, with arrangements that can open wide, then snap back to the essentials.
