Chat Pile land in Birmingham with their brutal mix of noise rock and sludge metal, the kind of set that feels more like a pressure test than a simple concert. Formed in Oklahoma City in 2019, the quartet (Raygun Busch, Luther Manhole, Stin and Cap’n Ron) builds songs on dissonant riffs, huge, dragging rhythms and vocals that swing between spoken-word tension and full-throat screams. Their imagery stays tied to the mining-waste “chat piles” of northeastern Oklahoma, and the music carries that same industrial grit and social bite.
On 5 February 2027 at O2 Institute Birmingham, expect a set that pulls from the early claustrophobic material and the impact of God’s Country, while making room for the harsher, more jagged direction of Cool World. It’s heavy, confrontational, and strangely precise: riffs that grind, drums that hit like machinery, and a constant sense that the room is about to tip over.
