One room, a long night, and two ways to let percussion express itself. DJ Plead transforms the rhythms of Lebanese weddings into club music designed for the sound system. Tayhana arrives from Mexico with cumbia, gabber, and trance in the same gesture. A third name is forthcoming.
Jarred Beeler, better known as DJ Plead, is a Lebanese-Australian producer whose club tracks are guided first and foremost by percussion. Since his first EP 'Get in Circle' on the DECISIONS label in 2018, he has released records on Nervous Horizon, AD 93 and Livity Sound, and co-founded the Sumac label. His style borrows rhythms, scales, and timbres from Lebanese pop and traditional wedding music, integrated into contemporary club and 2000s R&B.
Melody Tayhana grew up in Caleta Olivia, in southern Patagonia, and studied cinema in Buenos Aires when she co-founded HiedraH Club de Baile in 2013, a collective that transformed her political action into dance and the defense of bodies. Now based in Mexico and a member of the N.A.A.F.I. collective, she released her first album 'Tierra del Fuego' in 2019, and later produced 'CUUUUuuuuuute' for Rosalía's Motomami album. Her sets vary rhythms and BPM without warning: cumbia, baile funk and regional hits interwoven with trance, gabber, and techno.
