Dent May brings his Mississippi-rooted pop to London on April 17, 2027 at The Grace. Raised in Jackson, he started out singing in church and school musicals before drifting into pop-punk and emo bands as a teenager. That mix of earnest melody and DIY instincts still runs through his work, even as his sound has stretched far beyond its early, stripped-back charm.
After a detour through New York and a return to Oxford, Mississippi, he helped kickstart the Cats Purring Collective and began playing shows with little more than a ukulele, a setup that shaped the breezy, acoustic tone of his 2009 debut The Good Feeling Music of Dent May & His Magnificent Ukulele. From there, he kept widening the frame: more keys, more synthpop and new wave colors, and a growing taste for nocturnal, retro-leaning arrangements across records like Do Things, Warm Blanket, Across the Multiverse, Late Checkout and What’s for Breakfast? Expect a set that moves easily between intimate songwriting and glossy pop textures, built around clean hooks and restless shifts in mood.
