Alestorm sails into Norwich on January 22, 2027 with its black-sailed metal: a fusion of high-energy power metal, folk, and choruses crafted to be shouted in unison, somewhere between the tavern and the battlefield. Born in Scotland in the mid-2000s under the name Battleheart, the band quickly set sail under the Alestorm banner, spotted by Napalm Records and propelled by Captain Morgan’s Revenge (2008) and Black Sails at Midnight (2009).
Since then, the group led by Christopher Bowes (vocals) has been cranking out albums and touring at full speed, refining this pirate metal style that is both epic and decidedly offbeat: No Grave but the Sea (2017), Curse of the Crystal Coconut (2020) and Seventh Rum of a Seventh Rum (2022) at the forefront. On stage, it’s fueled by razor-sharp riffs, keyboards and gang vocals, with a party spirit firmly rooted and tracks designed to turn a venue upside down.
