While Cock Robin remains closely associated with the 1980s, the band has never really left the scene. Born in San Francisco in 1982, the project was built around Peter Kingsbery, songwriter and lead vocalist, with a marked taste for melodic pop rock nourished by new wave, between bright keyboards, crisp guitars and choruses that go straight to the point. Originally, the band's identity also rested on a male–female vocal exchange, with Kingsbery and Anna LaCazio sharing lead vocal duties on the early albums and enjoying European success.
After the Cock Robin trilogy (1985), After Here Through Midland (1987) and First Love: Last Rites (1989), followed by a hiatus in the 1990s, Cock Robin returned in the 2000s and continued on its path with a new lineup. Since the mid-2010s, Kingsbery has led a France-based version, notably with singer Coralie Vuillemin, and has released Chinese Driver, Lollobrigida and then Homo Alien, balancing ballads with more atmospheric arrangements.
