The German trance duo Cosmic Gate, consisting of Claus Terhoeven (Nic Chagall) and Stefan Bossems (Bossi), will perform at Ritter Butzke in Berlin on 28 November 2026. Since their formation in 1999 in Krefeld, their sound has stood for driving club energy: initially with clear, angular hard-trance structures, massive basslines, and simple, effective melody hooks, later with a noticeable shift toward melodic and progressive trance.
Tracks such as The Drums, Exploration of Space, or Fire Wire secured them an early place on European dance floors. From the mid-2000s onward, the arrangements became more atmospheric, the builds longer, and the arcs of tension more finely worked out. In their later releases, vocal trance also comes more to the fore, without losing the direct drive: modern textures, controlled tempos, and those characteristic, expansive peaks that Cosmic Gate perform so well live. In Berlin, the past and present of their trance aesthetics meet—precise, driving, without frills.
