If the name of Célia Kaméni circulates as much between jazz, soul, and contemporary song, it’s because she knows how to move her voice from one terrain to another without losing the thread. Trained in Lyon, she studied both classical music and jazz at the Conservatoire; she works on timbre and phrasing with a genuine attention to writing as much as to improvisation, whether in a large-format setting or in tighter, more intimate configurations. She has been heard on Secret Places with pianist Alfio Origlio, and in The Amazing Keystone Big Band’s projects centered on Ella Fitzgerald. She has also crossed paths with musicians such as Manu Katché or Erik Truffaz, and ventured into more hybrid terrains, notably with choreographer Bintou Dembélé. Her more personal project, nourished by influences ranging from Nina Simone to Björk, asserts itself with the EP Méduse (conceived with Yael Naim), where her voice takes time to tell stories, veer, and surprise. Concert on April 29, 2027 at L’Auditorium Seynod in Annecy.
