Born in Georgia, Jontavious Willis grew up singing gospel in church with his grandfather before an epiphany at age 14 upon discovering Muddy Waters. He then devotes all his energy to the blues, as a successor to the blues' greats, aware of this heritage (his Blues Project, visible on his website, also highlights blues veterans through interviews and other improvised jam sessions). A multi-instrumentalist and singer, this aficionado of blues history is a guitarist with inspired and masterful playing, who navigates between different blues styles: Delta, Piedmont, Texas... With three albums already to his credit — Blue Metamorphosis (2016), Spectacular Class (2019) and West Georgia Blues (2024) — the young man has managed to win over audiences and critics, as well as blues luminaries Taj Mahal, Keb' Mo' and Eric Bibb. Jontavious Willis will perform at La Clef on December 5, 2026.
