Since 2014, Boy Harsher has been shaping dark, minimalist electronic music led by the duo Jae Matthews and Augustus Muller. Born out of a DIY culture, the project first gained recognition with the EP Lesser Man, long circulated hand to hand before becoming a landmark thanks to the track “Pain.” The follow-up draws a clear line: Yr Body Is Nothing (2016), the EP Country Girl (2017), and Careful (2019), where their tightened writing and synthetic textures gain breadth without losing their taste for tension.
At the crossroads of darkwave, EBM, and a club-oriented post-industrial sound, Boy Harsher relies on dry bass tones, pounding machines, and a vocal delivery that alternates between directness and distance, always at the center of the frame. In 2022, The Runner deepens their connection to cinema with a project conceived as a film and its soundtrack, written and produced by the duo. Boy Harsher will perform on November 14, 2026 at the Transbordeur in Villeurbanne.
