The Amsterdam-based duo Weval, comprising Harm Coolen and Merijn Scholte Albers, have been moving for years between electronic music, slow house and alternative pop. Their tracks revolve around layered synth textures, smooth basslines, and vocals that aren’t merely “sung” but drift through the production as an extra melodic line. That approach runs through their early releases to their albums, where tension and rhythm often go hand in hand with more restrained, almost cinematic passages.
Live, that combination gains extra room: Weval builds songs with a sharp sense of dynamics, shifts between club-focused drive and introspection, while keeping them direct and physical at the same time. On 2 October 2026 they will perform at Patronaat in Haarlem for a show that centers their electronic songwriting, with attention to detail, groove and the small shifts that tilt a track.
