Info

Los Kjarkas bring their long-running Bolivian folk journey to Stockholm on October 18, 2026, at Göta Lejon. Formed in Capinota, in the Cochabamba region, the group has been shaping Andean music since the mid-1970s, balancing traditional roots with tightly worked vocal arrangements. Their repertoire moves naturally between huayño, cueca, bailecito, saya and popular songs, carried by chorus writing and the unmistakable colors of Andean instrumentation.

Over the years, the ensemble has toured far beyond Bolivia, building a live identity that’s as much about collective voices as it is about melody. Early landmarks like Bolivia (1976), Kutimuy (1979), Cóndor Mallku (1980) and Canto a la mujer de mi pueblo (1981) helped define their sound, while the band’s influence has travelled even further through songs like Llorando se fue, later adapted internationally as Lambada. After the loss of composer Ulises Hermosa in 1992, Los Kjarkas kept moving forward, welcoming new generations of musicians and continuing to release records, from Hermanos to anniversary projects like 45 Años La Leyenda Viva.
