Formed near Reykjavik in 2012, the Icelandic band has built its sound on that tight, rootsy mix of blues rock, folk and alternative rock, carried by the unmistakable voice of frontman and guitarist Jökull “JJ Julius Son” Júlíusson. After making noise at home with their early releases, they relocated to the US and leaned even further into American influences: gritty riffs, stripped-back acoustic moments, and songs that swing between tension and calm without losing their bite. From the breakthrough of A/B to the broader palette of Surface Sounds, KALEO keep that same backbone: groove-driven rock with room for atmosphere, melody, and a vocal performance that stays front and center.
