Tape B and Effin reunite on July 5, 2026 at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver for a night dedicated to bass music and dubstep. Two producers with clearly defined identities, brought together by a shared taste for big frequencies, crisp rhythms, and punchy references that land hard without coming off as pretentious.
Under the name Tape B, Kemal Berk Alkanat injects into his sets a dubstep that looks as much to the mid-2000s era as to the newer codes of the North American scene. It hits hard, it's massive, often tinged with hip-hop influences, with that nostalgic edge that comes through in textures and well-judged edits. A club-ready sound, between raw energy and a nod to the fundamentals.
From Nashville, Effin pushes a highly sample-driven approach, with heavy bass and retro hues that are anything but decorative. His way of playing with contrasts, between tension, more delicate melodies and production details, is audible both on stage and in his tracks, notably around Cheap Thrills (2023). A direct, nerve-driven format, where nostalgia mainly serves to amplify the impact.
