Turnover returns to the stage on March 20, 2027 at the Electric Ballroom in London, with their distinctive blend of early emo, indie rock, dream pop and soft grunge. Born in Virginia Beach around Austin Getz and the bassist Danny Dempsey, and with a lineup that has evolved without breaking the band’s core, Turnover first made a name for itself with a more direct sound rooted in pop-punk and emo, heard on Magnolia (2013). The shift in direction then became evident with Peripheral Vision (2015): slower tempos, guitars that merge into airy textures, and more introspective songwriting. The subsequent records continued to broaden the palette, from the melodic clarity of Good Nature (2017) to the more flexible nuances of Altogether (2019), up to Myself in the Way (2022), which continues this trajectory. Live, their strength lies in these contrasts: the urgency of yesterday still surfaces, and their knack for stretching songs into a precise, nervy pop haze.
